To Be Determined Job Description Under general supervision, the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP-A) implements speech/language programs and activities as planned and directed by the assigned speech/language pathologist (SLP). Employees may execute specific components of a speech and language program as specified in an individualized treatment plan composed by the SLP. Salary (Non negotiable) $42,679 - $59,011 (2026-2027 salary scale) with employee benefits package. Paygrade 16 Hours 10 months, 35 hours per week, 182 days
Contract Unit:
This position is part of the non-supervisory support services bargaining unit.
FLSA:
Non-exempt Qualifications Associate's degree from an approved SLP Assistant Program or Associate's degree or higher in an allied health field from an accredited college or university with minimum course work that includes at least 3 credit hours in normal speech-language development, speech disorders, anatomy and physiology of speech systems, language disorders and/or phonology or Bachelor's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from an accredited college or university. Hold or be eligible for a Maryland license as a speech-language pathology assistant from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Knowledge of speech/language pathology principles, practices and procedures. Working knowledge of child development. Ability to work effectively with students with disabilities and to carry out IEP activities. Ability to interact cooperatively with parents and other professionals. Ability to work independently and to accept direction. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills as well accurate and complete documentation skills. Responsibilities Provides direct speech/language services to students, under direction of assigned speech pathologist. Follows documented therapy plans developed by or in conjunction with the speech/language pathologist. Prepares materials/equipment needed in direct therapy. Documents student services and progress toward meeting established objectives, reporting progress to assigned speech/language pathologist. Assists the speech/language pathologist during assessment of students. Assists with informal documentation. Conducts speech/language screenings, under direction of assigned speech/language pathologist. Prepares materials for review meetings; collates and prepares student files. Must provide own transportation to a variety of school sites. Other duties as assigned by school administration or Office of Special Education.
