Overview:
Under the direction of the Director and/or Assistant Director of the Speech Therapy Department, the Therapy Aide Per Diem provides essential support to the therapy team by escorting patients, transferring them on and off equipment, and performing patient/resident programs under supervision. The Therapy Aide also assists with maintaining the general upkeep of the department.
Responsibilities:
Assist in changing patients to and from adaptive equipment as scheduled by therapists. Perform treatment procedures predetermined by therapists. Run upper extremity exercise classes as directed by therapists. Assist with the pool operations, including managing supplies, checking temperature, showering, dressing, and occasionally toileting patients, and disinfecting hydrotherapy equipment. Assist in maintaining the department, organizing equipment, and managing supplies. Demonstrate competency in the Meditech Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system; ensure timely and appropriate documentation. Participate in hospital training as needed. Clean therapy materials (e.g., toys, mats, feeding equipment). Transport patients/residents to and from designated locations. Maintain departmental inventories and supplies. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children preferred. Must be able to speak and write in English proficiently to perform job duties such as communicating with patients, writing documentation, and participating in team meetings.
Education, Licensure, and Certification:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to follow directions from professional staff. Good physical health and ability to perform heavy-duty work. Mechanical aptitude and strong interpersonal skills required. Ability to lift, pull, carry, bend, crouch, and balance patients from light to heavyweight. Perks of Working at
