Supervises:

None Primary Purpose:

Provide speech and language services to special education students according to each Individualized Education Plan. Candidate is under the direct supervision of a Certified Speech and Language Pathologist.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree (in the area of Speech Pathology preferred) State License for an Assistant in Speech Language Pathology issued by the state of Texas, or be eligible for a deficiency plan with Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR) to be completed in the school district

Special Knowledge Skills:

Understanding of the educational model for speech therapy services Ability to utilize the district special education software for student records Ability to utilize iPad or other technology in therapy

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Implement a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech impaired students developed by the supervising speech language pathologist. Therapy planning and preparation of clinical materials. Conduct/participate in speech and language screenings. Maintain clinical log of therapy sessions for each student served. Collect data. Bill Medicaid for services provided to eligible students. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education and/or supervising SLP within the scope of practice.
