Category Schools - SLPA Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students' communication growth as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in a welcoming educational environment near Newport News, VA. With professional supervision available, this role offers collaboration, mentorship, and the chance to make a lasting difference in young learners' lives. You'll help address the speech and language needs of a caseload typically around 55 students, which may span elementary or middle school levels. Your expertise will foster meaningful progress and create a positive impact in the school community.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Active SLPA licensure required Previous experience in school settings preferred, but enthusiastic new graduates are welcome Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective student and team interactions Ability to adapt to varying learning and communication styles Organization and documentation skills for case management and reporting
What You'll Do:
Implement speech and language therapy plans developed by supervising Speech-Language Pathologists Engage students in activities designed to improve articulation, language, social communication, and other related skills Record and monitor student progress, maintaining clear and accurate documentation Participate in team meetings and collaborate with educators, therapists, and families Provide support across different grade levels and adapt to diverse student needs Uphold school and professional best practices, maintaining student confidentiality Imagine each day spent empowering students to achieve their communication goals as you develop your professional skills under supportive supervision.
