Sterile Processing (SPD) Hoag Health System - 4.0 Newport Beach, CA Job Details 8 hours ago Qualifications Team leadership High school diploma or GED Acute care Full Job Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Manager Sterilization and High Level Disinfection is responsible for the day-to-day and future planning of the Sterile Processing Departments across multiple hospital locations. Plans, organizes, and directs sterile processing services, communicates relevant information and educates best practices to provide high quality patient care. Oversees the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization of all reusable medical instrumentation and scopes, including High Level Disinfection Processing (HLD). Assumes responsibility for coordination of instrumentation, flexible endoscopies and workflow, in alignment with procedural needs to assure the most efficient utilization. Maintains documentation for quality control of all steps of the processing of medical instrumentation as required by regulatory agencies. Performs audits to all sterilization and high-level disinfection sites for the purpose of monitoring at scheduled and random intervals. Maintains recommended practices as stated by national organizations (i.e. AAMI and AORN) to ensure that the Sterile Processing Departments are following evidence based practices and are standardized across all locations. Responsible for daily staff coverage, review of surgery schedule, and reviewing labor productivity. Communicates and collaborates with all departments and other medical staff to ensure the schedule runs efficiently. Collaborates with Infection Prevention to maintain the highest level of service. Partners with Operating Room Management team and other departments that needs reprocessed instruments in assuming responsibility for administrative management of SPD. Assists in developing and monitoring quality improvement issues, ensuring instrument and staff are able to meet procedural needs of the organization. Manages the continuous performance improvement process. Education and Experience High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred. Minimum five years' experience in support services at an Acute Care Hospital, including a minimum of three years in Sterile Processing and High-Level Disinfection Departments; with at least one year of leadership experience.
