Job Description
This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday from 0800-1630. Hours will vary as needed. Must be willing to cover PTO requests for other SPD members as needed. Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care equipped with four operating rooms and 14 pre-and post-operative recovery bays, specializing in orthopedic surgery, gynecologic procedures, eye procedures and pain management. We invite you to join our highly engaged team in the Sterile Processing department, where we work very closely with the Surgery department in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You will be working with a detail-oriented team that is proud to have zero incidents of bioburden. Our leadership team provides amazing support to the staff, and the surgeons we support have great respect for the team. What you'll do: Responsible for the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used in procedures for patient care. Cleans and disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis. Responds to immediate requests for sterilization or delivery of sterilized instruments to ensure there is no patient exposure to bioburden. Responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards. Maintains established control systems for supplies and equipment processed. Coordinates daily communication and operational needs with affiliated departments. May function as department lead with responsibility for assisting with daily department operations including staff scheduling, training, mentoring, and performance management. May function as the technical expert for a particular service line and in this role is responsible for improving service line processes and daily quality outcomes. Leads performance/process improvement projects.
