Compensation Traveler Pay:
$40-$52 per hour (based on experience) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight for a high-volume Sterile Processing Department. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient department operations, regulatory compliance, staff accountability, and the consistent availability of surgical instruments and equipment to support patient care and surgical services. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with extensive sterile processing experience, strong knowledge of industry standards, and a commitment to operational excellence, quality improvement, and team development. Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily Sterile Processing Department operations across all shifts. Supervise, mentor, and support supervisors and frontline sterile processing staff. Ensure instrument availability aligns with surgical schedules and procedural requirements. Maintain compliance with infection prevention standards, accreditation requirements, and department policies. Monitor departmental productivity, quality metrics, staffing levels, and workflow performance. Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and patient safety. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and employee engagement. Partner with surgical services, perioperative leadership, infection prevention teams, and other departments to optimize operations. Ensure accurate documentation, sterilization records, and audit readiness at all times. Address operational challenges proactively and implement effective solutions. Support employee training, onboarding, competency validation, and professional development initiatives. Promote best practices related to sterilization, decontamination, instrument tracking, and inventory management. Required Qualifications Certifications CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification required. CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader) and/or CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) certification preferred. Experience Minimum 5 years of Sterile Processing experience required. Minimum 3 years of leadership experience with responsibility for multi-shift operations. Experience managing supervisors, leads, or frontline leadership staff. Strong background in high-volume surgical or acute care environments preferred. Knowledge & Skills Comprehensive knowledge of sterile processing regulations, accreditation standards, and infection prevention practices. Experience managing staffing models, operational workflows, productivity metrics, and department performance indicators. Proven ability to lead teams, build accountability, and foster a positive workplace culture. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and operational excellence. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a large acute-care hospital or high-acuity surgical environment. Knowledge of instrument tracking systems and sterile processing technology. Experience leading process improvement and workflow optimization initiatives.
