Eligibility for benefits may vary by location and is determined by employment status Job Summary Full Time, Days The Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the reprocessing of all sterile and non-sterile materials, instruments, and equipment for surgery and other hospital units. He/she is responsible for manual cleaning and decontamination; operating the mechanical washers and sonic units; testing autoclaves for efficiency and maintaining compliant records; He/she assists in the recall process as needed. As a certified technician, the technician will also assist in the education and training of other staff (e.g., new hires) with respect to quality assurance, performance improvement, and departmental compliance.
