Sterile Processing Technician I Massachusetts General Hospital United States, Massachusetts, Boston 80 Blossom Street (Show on map) May 12, 2026
Summary:
Responsible for performing sterilization procedures on medical instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures, infection control standards, industry standards, recommended practices on sterilization, and regulatory requirements. Does this position require Patient Care? No
Essential Functions:
Processes specialty and general instruments. Resets instrument sets without error. Decontaminates instruments and equipment according to procedure. Maintains Central Sterile Department stock levels. Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings for issue, storage, or further processing. Communicates instrument repair needs to supervisor.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
No Licenses and Credentials:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST]
  • Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred
Experience:
related experience 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of case cart assembly.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory standards of materials management.
  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

Rotating weekends and holidays. The Central Sterile Processing Services (CSPS) department is at the heart of patient care at Mass General Hospital. We play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and effective care by cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, and distributing medical equipment and supplies used in surgeries, procedures, and patient care areas throughout the hospital. Our dedicated team's hard work is integral to the hospital's success, ensuring the best possible care for our patients.
