Nursing Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Sterile Processing Technologist (SPT) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, inspection, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment to ensure patient safety and compliance with hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment according to hospital and regulatory guidelines. Assemble, inspect, and package instrument trays and sets for surgical and clinical use. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and washers. Track and record sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance logs. Maintain an organized inventory of sterile and non-sterile supplies. Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to ensure instrument availability and readiness. Follow infection prevention and safety protocols at all times. Adhere to The Joint Commission (TJC) and AAMI standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technologist (CRCST or CSPDT) required. 1-3 years of experience in sterile processing or surgical services preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety. Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control standards, and medical terminology. Excellent teamwork, time management, and organizational skills.
Work Environment:
Hospital or surgical center sterile processing department. Shift work may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
