Performs routine cleaning as directed, equipment maintenance and other duties as requested. Requires high degree of responsibility, confidentiality and discretion. Able to prioritize, organize, multi-task, and take direction. Demonstrates attention to accuracy and detail. Supports the organization mission and vision. Promotes teamwork and functions as a team member providing care that encompasses compassion, collaboration and trust. Job Domains Duties Provides assistance for completion of patient care needs in the surgical department. Assists in cleaning of operating rooms between surgical cases, including disposal of trash and linen. Demonstrates sterile technique principles and handling of sterile supplies. Demonstrates safe and proper patient positioning and transfers and ergonomics as needed. Accurately prepares supplies/equipment for surgical procedures following printed preference cards. Aware of physician preferences and anticipates obtaining needed supplies/equipment. Stocks department as appropriate. Aware of location of all equipment and ensures return to proper location. Follows policies and procedures regarding infection control and sterilization standards. Maintains safe work environment (handling sharps, needles, blades, etc.) and practices by following Standard Precautions. Assists in maintaining regulatory logs (laboratory, temperature, humidity, etc.) Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of surgeon preferences, procedures, instrumentation, and equipment. Verbal skills to effectively listen and communicate. Math skills to perform basic calculations accurately. Reading skills to read preference cards and instructions. Demonstrate knowledge of age specific criteria. Basic knowledge of computers and keyboard. Physical Characteristics See well enough to read/write typed forms, instructions, printouts, etc. Mobility to bend, stoop, pull, lift, stand and walk. Mobility to respond quickly and carefully within the center and in emergency situations. Strength to maintain the demands of the entire working shift. Hear well enough to interact with all contacts and hear alarms. Hand/eye coordination to move, push, pull and manipulate equipment. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalency required. Previous experience in a health care facility preferred.
