Responsibilities Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment following established protocols and manufacturer instructions Inspect instruments for damage or defects, ensuring all items meet quality standards before use Manage inventory levels by accurately tracking supplies, ordering replacements as needed, and maintaining organized storage areas Prepare instrument trays and packages with proper aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during sterilization processes Document sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and quality control checks meticulously for compliance purposes Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments for procedures Adhere strictly to infection control guidelines, safety procedures, and regulatory standards at all times Skills Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician program or equivalent training Certification in Sterile Processing (e.g., Certified Registered Central Service Technician - CRCST) is required Strong knowledge of sterile processing techniques and infection prevention practices Proficiency in inventory management systems to track supplies efficiently Ability to apply aseptic techniques accurately during instrument handling and packaging Excellent attention to detail to identify potential issues with instruments or sterilization processes Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare professionals and team members Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized work environment in accordance with safety standards
