Sioux Falls, SD Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the sterilization, preparation, and management of surgical instruments and medical equipment to ensure patient safety and compliance with health standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures, anatomy, and physiology, enabling seamless support for surgical teams and infection control protocols. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through meticulous instrument management and adherence to aseptic techniques.Responsibilities:
Properly clean, disinfect, sterilize, and assemble surgical instruments and medical devices following established protocols. Maintain accurate inventory management of sterile supplies and equipment, ensuring availability for scheduled procedures. Inspect instruments for damage or wear, reporting any issues promptly to facilitate timely repairs or replacements. Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques during processing to prevent contamination and infection risks. Document sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and quality control measures accurately in designated logs. Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure all instruments are prepared according to specific procedural requirements. Follow safety guidelines related to handling biohazardous materials and chemical disinfectants. Support inventory replenishment by monitoring stock levels and coordinating with supply chain personnel. Stay updated on current sterilization standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to sterile processing.Experience:
Prior experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare environment is preferred. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to surgical procedures enhances instrument preparation accuracy, but not required. Demonstrated understanding of aseptic techniques crucial for maintaining sterile environments. Strong attention to detail combined with excellent organizational skills is essential for maintaining compliance standards. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter. This role is integral to delivering safe, efficient patient care through precise instrument management.
