Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Job description: Overview The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in the healthcare environment by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to strict protocols to prevent infections and ensure patient safety. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sterile processing procedures and be committed to upholding the highest standards of hygiene and safety. Responsibilities Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols. Inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness before sterilization. log usage and maintain sterilization and decontamination equipment. Operate sterilization equipment and monitor cycles to ensure effective sterilization. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to understand their needs for surgical procedures. Follow aseptic techniques during the handling of sterile items to prevent contamination. Participate in ongoing training and education related to sterile processing practices. Check the surgeon's preference card for all supplies needed for procedure are available. Receive and track loaner equipment to be used in the facility and ensure proper sterilization prior to use in patient care. Maintains surgical instruments, equipment and supplies in the OR departmen. Maintains Sterile Processing area to meet policies and procedures and all accrediting agency standards. Maintains cleanliness, neatness and safety in work and storage area. Provides support services for the professional nursing staff by performing duties such as in-services on keeping personnel updated on correct operation of equipment and proper record keeping to be in compliance Performs other duties as necessary within scope of practice. Skills Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy as it relates to medical procedures. Proficient in sterile processing techniques and aseptic methods. Familiarity with inventory management practices for medical supplies. Understanding of medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures and equipment. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing tasks efficiently.Job Type:
