Our hospital provides a wide range of surgical specialties with a strong commitment to patient safety, quality, and excellent outcomes. The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring safe, high-quality patient care by maintaining the cleanliness, sterilization, and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. Responsibilities Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment. Operate and monitor sterilizers, washers, and other processing equipment according to established procedures. Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment tests, and inventory. Ensure surgical case carts are complete, properly assembled, and ready for use. Inspect instruments for proper function and remove defective items from circulation. Adhere to infection control and safety standards at all times. Collaborate with the operating room team to ensure instrument needs are met for scheduled procedures. Assist with ordering and inventory management of sterile processing supplies. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) preferred. Previous experience in sterile processing or central supply strongly preferred. Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection prevention, and instrument handling. Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accuracy under time-sensitive conditions.
