Full-Time 5x8 Hour Shifts Variable Shift Timing 40 Hours per Week Position Overview "Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a travel contract assignment in Elmhurst, Illinois. The technician will be responsible for ensuring the proper cleaning, sterilization, assembly, and maintenance of surgical instruments and medical equipment in a fast-paced hospital environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting surgical and procedural teams by maintaining strict infection control standards and ensuring all instruments meet safety and quality requirements. Key Responsibilities Decontaminate surgical instruments and medical equipment using approved PPE and infection control protocols Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble surgical instruments following IFUs and SOPs Assemble and package surgical trays and instrument sets accurately Operate autoclaves, sterilizers, and washer disinfectors safely and effectively Inspect instruments for damage, cleanliness, and proper functionality Document missing or damaged instruments per departmental procedures Maintain accurate sterilization records, tracking logs, and inventory documentation Perform computer-based documentation and data entry tasks Monitor and maintain instrument and supply inventory levels Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of sterilization equipment Ensure compliance withANSI/AAMI
standards and infection prevention guidelines Collaborate with surgical, supply chain, and clinical teams Participate in training, competency checks, and continuous improvement activities Requirements Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience required High school diploma or equivalent required Certification required (CRCST, CIS, or equivalent) Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and sterilization workflows Experience with autoclaves and washer disinfectors required Strong attention to detail and ability to work in high-volume environments Basic computer and documentation skills required Strong communication and teamwork abilities Ability to follow strict SOPs and infection control standards For more details contact at or Call / Text at 516-862-1169.
