In this vital role, you will support oral surgeons during surgical procedures under IV sedation, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow while providing exceptional patient care. Your expertise in dental assisting, infection control, and medical documentation will contribute to delivering high-quality oral surgery services in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, and to develop your skills in specialized dental procedures. Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up surgical tools, and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for procedures Preparation of patients for IV sedation including: pre-op medical history review and checklist, obtaining and monitoring vital signs, checking airway and emergency equipment, assisting in airway/chin support during surgery. Surgical tray setup (extractions, grafting, implants) Assist the oral surgeon during surgeries by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field using aseptic techniques Effective flap retraction, suctioning, hemostasis Bone graft & membrane handling Implant instrumentation knowledge preferred Monitor vital signs and patient comfort throughout procedures, ensuring safety and adherence to HIPAA privacy regulations Manage medical records and documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Xchart and Open Dental, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medical coding standards Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, including infection control practices and medication usage Maintain infection control protocols and sterilization processes in accordance with OSHA guidelines and dental clinic standards Experience OMSA strongly preferred Active BLS Certification required IV sedation monitoring Airway management Emergency response Proven experience working as a dental assistant in a busy clinical setting, with exposure and experience in primarily oral surgery procedures Familiarity with EMR systems like Open Dental and Xchart for managing medical records and documentation Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records confidentiality and data security Join our team to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives through expert surgical support!
