Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Member of surgical team that works in the sterile field and assists the surgeon(s) and works to ensure a smooth flow of events before, during and after surgery. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Previous Operating Room experience as a Surgical Technician OR undergo three months of training in the facility under the supervision of the Medical Director, Staff Physicians and other OR personnel presently trained in the specified area.
Education:
1. experienced surgical technician with CST Certification or comparable certification. 2. Alternatively, surgical technician can be certified internally by the Medical Director 3. Current CPR Card
JOB DUTIES
1. Responsible for assuring that surgical cases have been telephoned, advised of schedule and are in readiness at that time. 2. Checks OR counter and equipment surfaces for absence of dust. 3. When scrubbed, is responsible for: a. Assisting with draping of patient b. Arranging instruments and supplies in convenient manner c. Opening and preparing sutures d. Assisting surgeon throughout operation by providing the sterile instruments and supplies he or she requires to perform the procedure. 4. Counts sponges and needles with Circulator. 5. Cleans instruments at end of each case. 6. Cleans OR at the end of each case. 7. Get instruments and packs prepared for upcoming procedures 8. Get all laundry done for the upcoming procedures. 9. Stock OR and all treatment rooms and set up treatment rooms for upcoming procedures.
