Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant to join our team! The Surgical Assistant will work alongside surgeons and other healthcare professionals in the operating room to provide support during surgical procedures. This candidate should have extensive knowledge in Robotics within the sub-specialties of Urology, General, Colorectal, and Bariatrics.
Responsibilities:
Being able to communicate the surgeon's preferences and specific patient needs to the surgical team. Positioning the patient to provide the necessary exposure for the procedure, as well as the surgeon's preference. Providing intraoperative skills such as visualization, injection of local anesthetics, hemostasis, tissue handling, placement and securing of wound drains, and closure of body planes. Being knowledgable of docking Robotic Da Vinci Xi system, placing multiport trocars, loading instrumentation based upon surgeons preference. Knowledge of and use of any open procedure equipment necessary for surgery, including, tissue forceps, retractors, clamps, scissors, sponges, suction, irrigation, use of hemostatic agents, etc.Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Surgical Assistant program. Certification through an accredited governing body (NSAA orNBSTSA, ABSA
). Department of Health District of Columbia Surgical Assistant License. Valid BLS/CPR Life Training A minimum of 3 years of Assisting in the operating room with Robotics surgery experience. A good team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, that pays attention to detail. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
