Full Job Description Overview:
The Surgical Pathology Prep Assistan t serves as a laboratory assistant whose duties include correctly accessioning and setting up gross specimens, assist with labeling of cases, making blocks for grossing, reconciling cases after grossing, recording blocks and preparing blocks for transport to the histology laboratory, maintaining chemical and biohazard elements, keeping supply inventory and ordering, recording equipment temperatures, and discarding tissue. This position is required to handle tissues, blood and/or other body fluids.
Responsibilities:
This position is required to handle tissues, blood and/or other body fluids. This position works with hazardous and biohazardous substances, displeasing odors and materials, as well as hazardous chemicals such as xylene and formaldehyde.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Associates degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation (Required): Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose
