Full Job Description Description:
EveryPet is a leading non-profit veterinary hospital dedicated to reducing shelter deaths and improving the lives of underprivileged pets. As one of the largest spay/neuter facilities in the nation, we are committed to making veterinary care affordable and accessible to all. We offer a range of low-cost veterinary services and emphasize high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter programs with a focus on community cats and owned animals.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our high-volume surgery department. In this role, you will support our mission by performing various technical and nursing duties related to surgical procedures, ensuring the highest standard of care for our patients. If you have a passion for veterinary care but lack specific experience in a high-volume surgical setting, we offer training to help you develop the skills needed to excel in this role.
Requirements:
Primary Duties:
Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments. Perform surgical preparation of patients, including anesthesia induction and positioning. Monitor patients pre- and post-operatively, ensuring their comfort and recovery. Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures as needed. Conduct diagnostics and laboratory procedures, including sample collection and analysis. Provide nursing care to patients, including administering medications and wound care. Assist with general hospital cleanliness and maintenance.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a veterinary technician, preferably in a surgical setting. Strong technical skills in surgical preparation, patient monitoring, and laboratory procedures. Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment. Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude. Excellent time management skills and a strong work ethic. Compassionate and caring approach to animal care.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Handle and restrain animals of various sizes, weights, and temperaments. Exposure to animal bites or scratches, high noise levels, cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Perform work in areas with radiation exposure associated with radiology procedures. Requires long periods of bending, twisting, stooping, standing, and walking. Ability to see objects at varying distances, speak, and listen in English. Use of fingers, hands, and arms to grasp, move, or assemble small objects with repetitive motions. Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 40 pounds unassisted; frequent lifting of animals and objects over 40 pounds with assistance.
Schedule:
10-hour shifts 4 days a week Saturdays as needed
