Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Oral Surgery Assistant to join our new oral surgery practice. In this vital role, you will provide chairside assistance during oral surgery procedures, or sedation assistant, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. Your expertise will support the oral surgeon in performing complex surgeries, maintaining a sterile environment, and delivering compassionate care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a patient-centered setting where your skills directly contribute to improved oral health outcomes. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, with prior oral surgery experience and passionate about helping others. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with all necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment for oral surgery procedures Surgical assistant to the oral surgeon during surgeries by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray and 3D scanner technology to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients prior to procedures, ensuring accurate medical documentation Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality Educate patients on post-operative care instructions and answer questions related to procedures or recovery processes Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and updating medical records as needed Requirements Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on oral surgery preferred; dental clinic experience is highly valued Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control, sedation, aseptic technique, and taking X-rays Familiarity with EMR systems for managing medical records and documentation Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging using CBCT Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about procedures and post-operative care Certification in CPR/BLS is required; additional certifications in ALS, DAANCE, or sedation support are a plus A proactive team player with attention to detail who thrives in an environment focused on patient safety and comfort Join us in making a difference by providing top-tier oral surgical care!
