  • Job Overview:
  • The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to ENT physicians and other healthcare staff. This position involves preparing patients for examinations, managing patient records, and ensuring a seamless and efficient patient flow within the clinic.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Preparation:
  • Welcome and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
  • Obtain and document patient history within the EMR system.
  • Assist patients in comprehending procedures and addressing their basic inquiries.
  • Assistance During Exams and Procedures:
  • Provide assistance during patient examinations.
  • Set up examination rooms, ensuring that all required equipment and supplies are available and sterilized.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the physician.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests under the supervision of the physician.
  • Patient Records Management:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the EMR system.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Coordinate and complete necessary paperwork for referrals.
The Procedure Technician is responsible for providing assistance with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, preparing patients and equipment, and ensuring the efficient operation of the clinic. This role supports physicians and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality care to patients with ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Preparation:
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, addressing any concerns, and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Obtain and document patient medical histories and vital signs.
  • Ensure informed consent is secured prior to procedures.
  • Procedure Assistance:
  • Assist physicians during ENT procedures, which include nasal endoscopy, laryngoscopy, sinuplasty, ear suctioning, and biopsies.
  • Handle and pass instruments and supplies during procedures.
  • Maintain sterile and aseptic techniques to prevent infection.
  • Equipment and Supply Management:
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment utilized in ENT procedures.
  • Ensure all necessary supplies and instruments are available and properly sterilized.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Patient Care and Support:
  • Monitor patients during and after procedures for any adverse reactions or complications.
  • Provide post-procedure care instructions and education to patients and their families.
  • Assist with dressing changes and other post-procedure care responsibilities.
  • Clinical Documentation:
  • Accurately document procedures, patient interactions, and observations within electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Maintain detailed and organized records pertaining to equipment use and maintenance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate closely with the healthcare team, which includes physicians, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience as a procedure technician, medical assistant, or surgical technologist is advantageous, particularly in an ENT or similar specialty.
  • Proficiency in utilizing EMR systems is preferred; however, training will be provided.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly related to ENT, is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • The ability to function in a fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations with composure is important.
  • A collaborative nature and willingness to work as part of a team to provide exceptional patient experience are required.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity is necessary for handling instruments and equipment.
  • The ability to lift up to 20 pounds and move patients and medical supplies as required.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
