Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Surgical First Assistant, where you will play a vital role in supporting surgical procedures across a variety of specialties. In this energetic and fast-paced environment, you will work alongside surgeons and perioperative staff to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe operations. Your expertise in surgical techniques, patient care, and hospital protocols will directly contribute to positive patient outcomes. Duties Assist surgeons during operative procedures by providing optimal exposure, tissue retraction, and hemostasis. Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile, functional, and ready for use. Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols throughout all procedures. Support patient care by monitoring vital signs, assessing physiological responses, and ensuring patient safety before, during, and after surgery. Collaborate with the healthcare team to facilitate discharge planning and coordinate post-operative care instructions. Document surgical procedures accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical records. Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, suturing techniques, and use of EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems to ensure comprehensive documentation. Experience Prior OR experience in hospital settings is required, with experience in Orthopedics advantageous. Demonstrated expertise in emergency medicine, critical care environments such as ICU or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), is advantageous. Proven ability to perform suturing, assist with complex surgeries, and apply aseptic techniques consistently. Knowledge of hospital medicine practices including discharge planning, infection control measures, and physiology fundamentals. Familiarity with medical-surgical units, trauma response protocols, and acute care procedures enhances your effectiveness in this role. Certification in ALCS is required as well as being CSFA or CSA certified. Strong analysis skills for interpreting vital signs and physiological data ensure optimal patient monitoring throughout surgical interventions. Pay:
$32.00 - $45.00 per hour
