Surgical First Assistant- Part-Time Confidential Lexington, KY Job Details Contract $40 - $70 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Workflow management (operations management method) BLS Certification Mid-level ACLS Certification Outpatient Surgery Basic life support Surgical instruments Perioperative care Aseptic technique Certified Surgical First Assistant Communication skills Working as a surgical first assistant Safety protocol implementation Full Job Description Position Overview The Surgical First Assistant will work alongside the surgeon assisting in surgery. Will be responsible for suture closing in most cases involving surgery around the eyes and adjacent facial area. Surgeries are performed in an outpatient surgical setting 5-8 days per month and does not require evenings or call. Key Responsibilities Provide direct intraoperative assistance, including exposure, retraction, hemostasis, and instrument handling Perform high‑precision fine suture closure , including closures Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain optimal workflow throughout procedures Ensure proper use and care of surgical instruments and equipment Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and OR safety protocols Document intraoperative activities as required by facility policy Qualifications Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), STFA, RNFA, or equivalent credentialing depending on state requirements Demonstrated expertise in fine suture closure and delicate tissue handling Current
BLS/ACLS
certification Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced OR environment Reliable, professional, and adaptable to varying case types and schedules
Contract Details Status:
Independent Contractor (1099)
Schedule:
Part‑time; 5-8 days per month. One day per month in Corbin, Ky.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly or per‑case rate (based on experience)
Pay:
$40.00 - $70.00 per hour
