Job Description
Performs a variety of patient care, administrative tasks and supervisory tasks under the directions of a licensed dentist. Patient care duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. Supervisory duties may include supervising the dental team (increasing efficiency and quality patient care), administering staff scheduling and productivity, establishing and implementing staff training, responsible for maintaining dental equipment and supplies. [CS1] compliance requirements, cross trained in all clinical areas and delivering individual and team leadership. Key responsibilities (Not limited to the duties stated below, additional duties as assigned) Patient Care Provide excellent customer service with greeting and seating dental patients. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures Ensure the room is cleaned and sterilized before/after each patient Prepares the patient for treatment/procedure with x-rays, charts, instruments and materials needed for the procedure Assist the dentist during dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety Operate dental X-ray equipment and 3D scans Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment Explain to patients' proper oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions Assist with maintaining the dental office's inventory of supplies, ordering as needed Administrative Tasks Updating patient records as needed Handle phone calls and coordinate with patients for follow-up appointments Record/write all treatment rendered to patients by the Dr., sends accurate reports, maintains patient records and files dental charts Perform basic office tasks such as filing, data entry, and other administrative duties Infection Control, Safety and Compliance Adhere to strict infection control protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Adhere to proper sterilization practices of all equipment and instruments Maintains the dental office in a clean and orderly manner by adhering to Daily, Weekly, Bi-weekly and Monthly protocols Follow safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect the privacy of health information and the security of electronic records Understand emergency protocols Professional Commitment and Growth Maintain a positive attitude and team effort. Participates in company activities outside of the Dental office (ie: volunteer days) Dedication to personal and professional growth. Minimum Qualification Requirements Education High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited dental assisting program Valid driver's license. DAANCE and Dental Radiation Technologist Certification Skills and Knowledge Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Knowledge of dental terminology, record keeping, procedures and instruments Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel) Proficiency in dental software and office management systems Ability to delegate tasks and prioritize accordingly Ability to analyze, solve problems, and find effective solutions Working Conditions The work environment is fast-paced and involves close contact with patients Mental, Physical and Communication Demands The position requires long periods of standing, sitting, walking and bending Occasionally lifting equipment or supplies up to 25 lbs. Eyeglasses and surgical masks must be used as protection during treatment, lead aprons and shields will be used as protection against radiation. Requires working to specified routine and under supervision of the Dentist Requires performing tasks with consideration to patients and willingness to work as part of a team, maintaining reliable work attendance, assisting co-workers in other areas as needed or required Work Hours Typical office hours are Monday- Friday 7:30am
