Job Description

Location:
Eisenberg 64 (EI64), General and Plastics Surgery (General Care)
Patient Care Type:
This unit specializes in General, Hepatobiliary/Pancreas and Plastic Surgery patients.
Surgical procedures include:
Reconstructive Breast Surgery, Liver Surgery, Pancreas Surgery, Gastrectomy, Thyroidectomy, Gender Affirming Surgery, and Various Flap procedures. It is common for the unit to receive a variety of other surgical patients such as gynecological, urology, orthopedic and medical oncology and hematology specialties. You can expect a diverse population of patients on EI64 which makes it an exciting and excellent unit to practice nursing. Bed #: 21 The Patient Care Assistant assists patient care unit staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, which support nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
MUST BE A CURRENT MAYO CLINIC SEIU HEALTHCARE UNION EMPLOYEE TO APPLY.
Must be 18 years of age prior to start date. Must be able to read, write, communicate, and understand English. Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Additional Qualifications :
Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
License or Certification:
If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
