Oral Surgery Assistant 101 Truman Medical Center Job Location University Health 1 (UH1) Kansas City, Missouri Department UH Clinic Oral Surgery UHTMC Position Type Full time Work Schedule 8:00AM - 4:30PM Hours Per Week 40 Job Description Oral Surgery Asst Prepare patients and equipment for oral surgery procedures. Assist in patient care documentation and vital signs. Takes x-rays and prepares various materials. Documents charges, sets up exam room, arranges instruments for procedures, and dismisses patients. Assist with intravenous sedation procedures. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or the equivalent. Graduation certificate from a Dental Assistant training program or completion of the basic skills exam. Other clinical education in combination with demonstrated oral surgery assistant competencies and work experience can be considered in replacement of the Dental Assistant and/or successful completion of the basic skills exam requirement. 6-months experience with oral surgery or an Active CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) Certification upon hire (not required to be maintained after 6-months accumulated experience with oral surgery) If position is responsible for radiologic functions, employee must have received the radiology certification or training in their Dental Assistant training program or receive training validated through radiology competency checklist. Minimum computer knowledge. Good verbal communication skills. Experience in handling all ages of patients. Must have the ability to assist patients weighing over 100 lbs. Maintain BCLS certification for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
One to two years experience in chair side dentistry. Experience with oral surgery, endodontic, periodontics, geriatric, and pediatric specialties. Front desk and basic insurance knowledge.
