Job Description

We are an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice committed to delivering exceptional patient care in a professional, efficient, and patient-centered environment. We are seeking a highly organized, self-motivated Oral Surgery Assistant to play a key role in supporting clinical operations and contributing to the growth and success of the practice. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment dedicated to advanced dental procedures, including wisdom tooth extractions, dental implants, and other complex oral surgeries. Your expertise will help ensure smooth clinic operations, uphold infection control standards, and deliver compassionate support to our patients. The Oral Surgery Assistant will work closely with the oral surgeon and clinical team to ensure smooth daily operations, excellent patient experiences, and efficient surgical workflows. This role is ideal for someone who takes initiative, adapts well to new systems, and enjoys being an integral part of a growing practice. Assist oral surgeon during surgical procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and surgical sites using aseptic techniques and maintaining sterile fields. Manage patient flow by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and ensuring patients are comfortable before procedures. Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate images necessary for diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain detailed medical documentation, including medical records and procedural notes, in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support front desk operations by managing appointment scheduling, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records using Open Dental. Prepare and break down operatories, ensuring proper sterilization and infection control protocols Provide pre- and post-operative instructions with professionalism and compassion Manage clinical supplies and assist with inventory organization Support scheduling, patient flow, and overall efficiency as needed Oral surgery and anesthesia assisting experience preferred. CPR certification. Knowledge of EMR systems for managing medical documentation and records efficiently. Infection control certification and strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and anatomy relevant to oral surgery procedures. Radiology certification and ability to operate medical imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times. Excellent communication skills in patient-facing roles. Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently and as a team. Positive attitude with excellent communication and patient-care skills. Basic knowledge of dental/medical terminology, dental/medical coding, and vital signs monitoring is highly desirable.
