Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Surgical Assistant to join our dermatology team. You will work closely with our surgeons to provide high-quality care during specialized procedures, including Mohs micrographic surgery, excisions, and cosmetic procedures. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and maintains a calm, professional demeanor while assisting in surgical settings.
Key Responsibilities Surgical Assisting:
Assist the physician during surgical procedures such as biopsies, excisions, Mohs surgery, and laser treatments.
Clinical Preparation:
Set up surgical trays, maintain a sterile field, and ensure all necessary instruments are sterilized and ready for use.
Patient Care:
Escort patients to surgical suites, record vitals and medical history, and explain procedures to alleviate patient anxiety.
Post-Operative Care:
Apply dressings, provide clear wound-care instructions to patients, and handle suture removals.
Pathology Coordination:
Correctly label specimens and manage pathology logs and laboratory forms.
Administrative Support:
Document all clinical data accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Nextech system.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a surgical setting, preferably in Dermatology or Mohs Surgery .
Certification:
CMA (AAMA), RMA, or specialized Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of sterile techniques, surgical instrumentation, and medical terminology.
Soft Skills:
Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a compassionate bedside manner.
Systems:
Proficiency with EMR software
