Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Surgical Tech, you'll be an integral surgical team member, providing skilled assistance for safe, efficient procedures critical to patient outcomes.
Every day you will prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies) and assist surgeons/nurses by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field. You'll count items, handle specimens, assist with patient positioning, and adhere strictly to aseptic technique.
To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong sterile technique knowledge, and the ability to anticipate needs in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and a steadfast commitment to patient safety are essential. Shares data with team and supports team with surgeon. Gets procedure questions asked and helps to set up for correctprocedures.
Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data, and intuition, promotes the development of clinical decision making of all team members. Advocates patient rights from the patient/family perspective: provides counsel and acts as a resource to resolve issues. Provides validation of clinical decision for other staff members, seeks validation from others for complex patients or unfamiliar situations. Collaborates with the health care team and other disciplines to meet the desired outcomes. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines. Uses an integrated approach toward patient outcomes. Demonstrates effective communication skills and seeks out opportunities to improve communication among healthcare team members/patients/families.
Works to implement practice initiatives in a positive and productive manner. Job Requirements Required Completion of CAAHEP accredited first assist program and/or evidence of preceptorship of 140 operative cases as surgical first assist and/or evidence of previous experience in the role of a Certified First Assist. Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience. Completion of an Accredited Surgical First Assist Program with Certification as a Surgical First Assist. Current Certified Surgical Technologist with completion of a CAAHEP accredited first assist program.

= AHA-Basic Life Support-Natl CT CSFA = Certified Surgical 1st Assist-Natl Both the Certified Surgical Technologist and Certified Surgical First Assist certification(s) must be provisioned through the NBSTSA. Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.
