Job Description

Overview MedCurate, Inc. is seeking Surgical Assistants for prn/ per diem opportunity in Akron OH
  • up to $50/hr. No shift requirement! Monday
  • Wednesday Day Shifts available
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center Responsibilities Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and other team members with respect to the requirements for the surgical procedure.
Uses knowledge of OR procedures with respect to attire, infection control, and compliance practices. Prepares for the procedure or surgery by participating in the safety check/universal protocol, determining equipment needs, reviewing permits, assisting in moving and positioning the patient, selecting x-rays, inserting/removing Foley catheter, and draping the patient. Supports the surgeon during the procedure by retracting tissue and organs, maintaining hemostasis, using appropriate instrumentation, placing ties or ligatures, applying chemical hemostatic agents, using electrocautery, clamping, ligating, and cutting tissue. Maintains integrity of sterile field, closes wound layers, inserts drainage tubes, applies wound dressing, and assists with resuscitation or other events in the OR. Performs any other duties or procedures incident to the surgical procedure as directed and supervised by the surgeon. Other duties as assigned.
Certifications Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) through
AHA or ARC Preferred:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through AHA or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ALS) through ARC Certification as CSFA, CSA, or SA‑C Work Experience Minimum two years of peri‑operative practice in an acute care facility Learn more about MedCurate in this 60 second video
