Certified Surgical First Assistant- PRN O'Neill Plastic Surgery - 4.3 Charleston, SC Job Details Part-time 1 day ago Qualifications Perioperative care Certified Surgical Technologist Plastic surgery Certified Surgical First Assistant Full Job Description Certified Surgical First Assistant O'Neill Plastic Surgery is looking for a motivated, experienced, and hard-working Certified Surgical First Assistant to join our team. The First Assist will work under the direct supervision of surgeons to help conduct effective and safe surgical procedures. Our practice is dedicated to the highest standards of patient care and customer service. Job Description Ensures that appropriate supplies, equipment, and instrumentation are available, opened and functioning properly for each procedure. Works as a team member with surgeons and nurses to provide safe and efficient care while focusing on limiting waste in the O.R. Acts as First Assistant and provides intraoperative skills during surgical procedures — holds retractors, ties off vessels and tissues, repairs incisions and lacerations, cuts and cauterizes tissues, etc., as needed, and as directed for wide variety of cosmetic surgery cases. Assumes responsibility for patient positioning, prepping, and draping appropriately for procedures and to follow all safety and procedural guidelines. Performs complex surgical techniques as needed and as directed by physician. Maintains the highest standards of sterile technique during the operative procedure. Ensures proper transport of patient to recovery area after completion of procedure. Assists personnel in the cleanup and turnover of room to facilitate start of next procedure. Sterile processing of instruments at the end of each case Terminal cleaning and preparing the OR at the end of the day for the next surgical day Perform other projects/tasks as requested. Education and Experience:
- 2+ years of experience is required.
- Certification by NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) CFA (Certified First Assistant) is required.
- CSFA re-certification on a regular basis is required.
