Job Description

TTUHSC partners with University Medical Center (UMC) which is the home of the TLC2 Foundation cancer center. This state-of-the-art facility opened in April 2026 and is helping UMC and TTUHSC pave the way to become a regional leader in cancer care. Texas Tech University Department of Surgery is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible surgical oncologist for an open-rank faculty position with clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate will have a primary clinical focus in endocrine, breast, and soft tissue surgery , contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. The division of surgical oncology at TTUHSC is expanding due to higher volumes and you have an opportunity to be a part of that growth. You will join a group of cancer subspecialists including CGSO, hepatobiliary, breast, and colorectal-trained surgeons. TTUHSC is proud to be the home of the John Wayne Foundation CGSO fellowship program, one of the newest
ACGME/SSO
accredited CGSO fellowship programs and 1 of only 44 programs nationwide. You will have an opportunity to work with and train our surgical fellows and residents. The department is active in both basic science and clinical research, and our medical school was recently ranked #1 nationally among graduates as "The best place to learn". Surgical education is a core mission of the department, and the division of surgical oncology will include general surgery residents and medical students in addition to advanced practice providers. The Chair and senior faculty have a strong track record of helping newer members seamlessly become part of the team, and mentoring them in their career growth locally and nationally. The rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate's qualifications and experience.
