MOTIVATED
certified dental assistant with surgery experience ( 2 year experience required)Responsible for the day-to-day operations of assisting the surgeon in the clinical/surgical treatment of patients.

BENEFITSAfter 1 year - 401K with 3% automatic contribution 2 week vacation 1 week medical leaveKEY RESPONSIBILITIESPatient ManagementGreet patients with a smile when they sign in and monitor arrival timeTake vital signs and weight for every patient and blood glucose as requiredTake x-rays, cone beam CT scan, pictures, etc. as required for patient diagnosis and treatmentAnticipate and assist surgeonComplete Intra-Oral scans as needed for patientObtain and review the patient health history according to office protocol and provide summary to the surgeon (review medication list, discuss main complaint)Accompany doctor into the consultation room for patient evaluation. Take notesGive verbal and written pre and post operatory instructionsDischarge patientsEnter all surgical notes to EMR/DSNReturn clinical phone calls to patientsRotate taking after-hours calls with other staff membersSurgical Suite/Treatment Room Management and SterilizationSet up treatment rooms for surgical and office procedures prior to appointmentMake sure all the equipment needed for surgeries is working and necessary instruments are sterile and properly set up in the roomFabricate pre-surgical stents or Provisionals as needed prior to the surgeryMake initial impressions as necessaryPrepared the patient for surgery, vital signs, Oxygen, mark areasAssist surgeon during surgery including but not limited to retraction, suction, passing instruments, helping the doctor with IV placement and IV sedationFabricate nightguardsDraw and label medications for IV sedationClean and disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulationsSterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulationsMaintain proper sterilization recordsPrepare surgical traysImplement preventive maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipmentMaintain dental office emergency kits and nitrous and oxygen tanksKnow the basics about control medications used in surgery and emergency protocolsFollow laboratory procedures according to office protocolRecords ManagementSecurely store and handle patient records in compliance with state and federal requirements, including the HIPAA privacy and security regulationsAccurately file patient informationReview patient charts and radiographs for next days appointments, make sure notes and pictures have been entered in the patients chartRequest medical records, medical release or specific instructions, as neededInventory ManagementMonitor inventory and order approved dental, surgical and lab suppliesReceive suppliesEnsure that treatment and consult rooms are always stockedOrder medications as neededOffice ParticipationHelp in other areas of the office when necessary (i.e., answering phones, scheduling appointments)Be an active participant in team meetingsPromote team concept by interacting with others in the office
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalentGraduate of accredited dental assisting program and dental assisting experience preferredCoursework in dental instruments and proceduresCompliance with state dental practice requirements (e.g., x-ray requirements, OSHA training)Computer skillsCommitment to CE for career developmentInterpersonalGood interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, and other staff membersEffective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff
