Job Description

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Williamsburg (OMS Williamsburg) is currently looking for an experienced Oral Surgery Assistant to join our growing team. Dr. Andam E. Schmidt, DDS, FACS is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with expertise in tooth and wisdom teeth extractions, general and sedation anesthesia, dental implants, maxillofacial pathology and trauma, orthognathic surgery, TMJ treatment, and facial cosmetic surgery. As our practice continues to grow, we are expanding our clinical team to welcome motivated assistants who are passionate about patient care and interested in being part of one of the most exciting and rewarding specialties in the medical and dental field. Our team is committed to utilizing state-of-the-art technology to enhance patient outcomes, safety, and overall satisfaction. This is a full-time position. Monday-Thursday (7:30 AM-5:00 PM) and Friday (7:30 PM-1:00 PM). Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with instruments, supplies, and sterilization procedures. Assist during procedures including extractions, dental implant placement, biopsies, and other surgical interventions. Provide circulating support during surgical procedures. Take radiographs, cone beam imaging, and 3D scans while ensuring patient comfort and accurate positioning. Monitor vital signs and assess patient readiness before procedures. Obtain health histories and assist with patient intake and consultations. Maintain accurate clinical documentation using electronic medical record systems. Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and sterilization protocols. Support emergency preparedness procedures and maintain a safe clinical environment. Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and excellent patient communication. Opportunity to assist in the operating room at a local hospital. Qualifications 1+ years of oral surgery or dental assisting experience preferred Experience with EMR/EHR systems preferred Current CPR certification required Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, radiography, infection control, and surgical assisting techniques Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment DAANCE certification preferred but not required
