The Oral Surgery Assistant serves as both a clinical leader and hands-on surgical assistant. This role is responsible for supporting surgeons during procedures, maintaining clinical excellence, assisting with training and development of team members, and helping ensure smooth daily operations across the clinical team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, dependable, and comfortable leading by example. About Us We are a growing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice committed to providing exceptional patient care, clinical excellence, and a supportive team environment. With multiple locations and continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Oral Surgery Assistant who is passionate about patient care, thrives in a fast-paced surgical setting, and enjoys mentoring and developing team members. Responsibilities Clinical Duties Assist surgeons during oral surgery procedures, including extractions, implants, bone grafting, pathology, and IV sedation cases. Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and surgical equipment. Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures in accordance with office protocols. Obtain and review patient health history. Take and process radiographs and CBCT imaging. Provide post-operative instructions and patient education. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. Compliance & Safety Ensure adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety protocols. Maintain emergency equipment and sedation readiness. Assist in maintaining accreditation and regulatory compliance standards. Qualifications Required Current Washington State Dental Assistant Registration (or ability to obtain). Current BLS certification. Experience assisting with IV sedation procedures. Strong knowledge of oral surgery instruments, procedures, and sterilization protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred DAANCE Certification.
ACLS/PALS
certification. Experience with dental practice management software and digital imaging systems. Skills Experience with dental assisting in a surgical setting, including chairside assisting for complex procedures in oral surgery. Proficiency in EMR systems for managing medical records and documentation accurately. Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Familiarity with dental imaging technologies including X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Expertise in infection control practices, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile environment during surgeries. Ability to interpret dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery procedures. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist when coordinating patient care and managing medical documentation.
