Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Periodontal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow in the dental office. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care. We support patients at two offices: our primary location in Silverdale and our secondary location in Bainbridge. Our current surgical assistant is moving at the beginning of October, so we are hoping to onboard our new staff member prior to their departure. Our office provides care for patients Tuesday
  • Friday, allowing for a positive work/life balance! Office hours are Tuesdays (Bainbridge), Thursdays (Silverdale), and Fridays (Silverdale) from 7am
  • 4pm and Wednesdays (Silverdale) from 7am
  • 2pm. This position will support both locations. Pay for this position starts at $28 per hour and is dependent on experience Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared beforehand.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including medical and dental histories.
  • Manage infection control procedures, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Assist with procedures as needed, including but not limited to: implants, grafts, extractions, etc.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to provide exceptional patient care. Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is required
  • Previous surgical experience in a dental office is required.
This experience may come from:
periodontics, implants, extractions, endodontics, or other oral surgery procedures.
  • Certification or associate degree in an accredited dental assistance program is required
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and dental terminology is essential
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and procedures is required
  • Experience with medical imaging techniques
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for maintaining accurate records
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
  • Certification in CPR or First Aid is preferred but may be obtained upon hire
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks
