About the
Role:
The GI Lab Scrub Tech plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of gastrointestinal procedures by providing essential support to the medical team. This position involves preparing the surgical environment, maintaining sterile conditions, and assisting with the setup of necessary equipment and instruments. The Scrub Tech will work closely with physicians and nurses to facilitate efficient patient care and ensure that all procedures are conducted safely and effectively. Attention to detail and adherence to protocols are vital, as the role directly impacts patient outcomes and the overall efficiency of the GI lab. Ultimately, the GI Lab Scrub Tech contributes to a high standard of care and patient satisfaction within the medical facility.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a GI lab or similar surgical environment. Completion of a surgical technology program or equivalent experience. Certification as a surgical technologist (CST) or eligibility to obtain certification. Knowledge of gastrointestinal procedures and related equipment.Responsibilities:
Prepare the GI lab by ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use. Assist the medical team during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field. Monitor and manage inventory of surgical supplies, ensuring that all materials are stocked and available. Adhere to safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Document and report any issues or concerns regarding equipment or procedures to the appropriate personnel.Skills:
The required skills for this position include strong attention to detail, which is essential for maintaining sterile conditions and ensuring the safety of patients during procedures. Effective communication skills are necessary to collaborate with the medical team and to relay important information regarding patient care.
