Eligibility for benefits may vary by location and is determined by employment status Job Summary Anyone traveling more than 60 miles one way to Holy Cross is eligible for a travel stipend of $60 per day. Job Summary Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. Responsibilities Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies. Hands required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instruments counts throughout procedures. Places equipment and supplies in the operating or labor & delivery rooms and arranges instruments according to preference cards. Cleans and checks equipment area. Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other technical tasks as directed by surgeon during operation. Orders, stocks, and maintains supplies for the OR and C-section suites. Organizes in preparation for end of case and assists in clean up and turnover of rooms. Disposes of all sharps, biohazardous waste items appropriately. Handles specimens properly. Reports observations of changes in patient's conditions and level of consciousness to an RN or LPN in a timely manner.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements Education:

High School Diploma or GED. Completion of Surgical Technologists course from an accredited facility.

Experience:

Must be able to work variable shifts, holidays and/or weekends. Must be able to take call rotation when required. Must be able to perform all duties, including lifting and transferring, using proper body mechanics.

Licensure/Certifications:

BLS Preferred Requirements Experience:

Knowledge of hospital environment desired. Previous hospital and/or health care related experience preferred
