Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will support surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, assisting during procedures, and ensuring strict adherence to infection control and aseptic techniques. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, along with extensive experience in various surgical environments. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functional and ready for surgical procedures. Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, suturing, and managing surgical supplies efficiently. Maintain strict aseptic techniques throughout procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety. Monitor patient vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation during surgeries. Support patient care activities pre- and post-operation, including positioning patients and assisting with recovery protocols. Manage medical records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesia providers, nurses, and physicians to facilitate smooth surgical workflows. Demonstrate proficiency in suturing techniques and basic life support (BLS) procedures when necessary. Follow infection control protocols diligently to uphold hospital standards of safety and hygiene. Participate in ongoing training related to trauma center protocols, critical care practices, and new surgical technologies. Qualifications Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required. Proven experience working in OR environments with exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and infection control practices. Experience with hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care units such as ICU or PICU settings highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or similar platforms for medical records management. Strong analysis skills for monitoring vital signs and responding appropriately during surgeries. Ability to perform suturing and other technical skills essential for operative support. Excellent understanding of aseptic techniques and infection prevention measures. Prior ambulatory surgery center experience is advantageous. Commitment to patient-centered care with attention to detail in a fast-paced hospital environment.
