  • Leadership in advocating for physicians and healthcare workers in our community Advanced Ambulatory Surgery Center is growing and seeking Per Diem Certified Surgical Technicians.
We are looking for someone available 3 days per week including some Saturdays. Candidates should have the following experience: Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technology program Valid American Heart Association BLS upon hire required Minimum of one (1) year of surgical technologist required Minimum of 2 years experience in Orthopedic, Spine and Interventional pain Personable attitude willing to work along side doctors, reps and other employees to make sure the correct instrumentation is readily available.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Initiates and maintains sterile technique . Opens sterile supplies and establishes a sterile field. Sets up supplies and instruments in sterile fashion. Gowns and gloves in sterile fashion Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants Performs surgical counts with Circulator Maintains sterility throughout procedure 2. Assists on all surgical procedures Participates in 'time out' confirmation of surgical procedure/site. Assists surgeon throughout procedure, anticipating needs, utilizing proper instrumentation and providing good case flow Cleans prep solution and blood from wound and wipes off grossly contaminated instruments and takes all open instruments to decontamination for cleaning. Cleans up after case and disposes or biomedical waste within guidelines Hands off specimen to Circulator communicating source. Demonstrates proficiency in all instrumentation and equipment used from the field. Performs care within policies/procedures, scope of practice and in accordance with State laws. 3. Demonstrates proper care of instrumentation and equipment Cleans instruments in decontamination area assuring all instruments are free of debris before placement in washer/sterilizer Lubricates instruments. Assembles instruments into sets properly. Assists in packaging instruments for sterilization. Operates pre-vacuum sterilizer/Sterrad efficiently Manages proper storage of all instruments and equipment. Assists with inspection and ordering of supplies and instruments Completes biological indicator testing accurately. Properly hand washes all power equipment and camera equipment 4. Assures OR rooms and case readiness Performs terminal cleaning, restocks supplies in OR rooms and on carts. Opens OR suites; initial room cleaning, temperature/humidity checks and medical gas checks. Returns all items not used to proper place. Maintains patient confidentiality Communicates to appropriate staff any necessary information concerning cases, supplies and equipment Maintains supplies and restocks department. Participates in the OR count Assures all needs are met pertaining to the upcoming cases Prepares for next day's cases to include requisition of special request items. 5. Demonstrates quality, competent care to the surgical population Assumes responsibility for own professional development Provides quality care based on established standards and demonstrates competency in the specialty needs of the surgical patient population Assists in orientation/teaching of peers Fulfills annual education and competency requirements Identifies opportunities for system and process improvement. Displays self motivation when assigned special projects Follows radiologic safety measures
