Position Summary Demonstrates a clear understanding of sterile techniques and maintains a working knowledge of the specialized instrumentation and equipment required for a variety of special procedures. Responsibilities Essential Functions
- Reviews preferences and verifies the case cart thoroughly before the procedure.
- Maintains an orderly surgical field and consistently passesinstruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
- Anticipates and prioritizesthe needs ofthe varioussteps associated with the procedure.
- Takes part in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
- Maintainssurgicalspecimens in a manner that identifies and preserves them for pathology evaluation.
- Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
- May have limited accessto areas where medications are stored.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patientrights, and compliance with the standards ofregulatory and accrediting agencies.

Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent.
Successful completion of:
- Surgical Technology training program; or
- Orlando Health Training Program; or
- An accredited physician assistant program Licensure/Certification Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
