SURGICAL TECH STUDENT - Union General Hospital - FT/PRN

Job Description:

Surgical Tech Student This position is responsible for performing surgical tech/central sterile tech tasks and related tech service duties under the direction of the OR Manager and/or Circulating Nurse. Duties include, but are not limited to: preparing OR rooms with instruments, sutures and other supplies and equipment, performs as a scrub tech according to procedure standards, assists in needle, sponge and instrument counts with RN. Assist with other duties as outlined by the OR Manager and/or Circulating Nurse.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Setting up the instruments and equipment that is required for the procedure Sterilizing equipment and taking an inventory to ensure there are enough supplies for surgery Preparing the patient for surgery Passing the Surgeon instruments and sterile supplies throughout the operation Taking a count of all surgical instruments and supplies prior to the operation Recounting surgical instruments and supplies at the end of the operation Maintaining an overall sterile environment throughout the surgery
