OR TECH McDonough District Hospital • SURGERY Mb, IL Support Services Full-Time Hourly , Days, M-F 0700-1530, On call 1:5 weekdays, weekends, holidays Posted 05/29/2026 Req # 2120 Expected pay for this position is $19.69-$34.14. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
An unlicensed practitioner trained on-the-job to assist in the operating room and/or has graduated from an Surgical Technician school licensed in the State of Illinois. Licensing is not required, but encouraged, in this position. Current CPR certification is required. Required to be successfully credentialed with MDH Medical Staff Office prior to start date.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Is knowledgeable regarding policies and procedures, PPE's, universal precautions, duties listed in the disaster manuals, and MSDS sheets. The patient populations must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS
Verbal ability is needed to interpret and understand the physicians' orders andmunicate with other caregivers, regarding care of the patient, as well as to present educational information to patients, staff and the public as needed. Numerical ability is needed to insure correct dosages of medication and insure correct sponge and instrument counts. Clerical perception is needed to assess patient and correctly interpret data. Finger dexterity is needed for, but not limited to, handling surgical instruments, giving IM medications, assembling equipment and different physical exams. A preference for scientific and technical activities is required to set up and adapt medical equipment to the patient's needs and the physiological affects of the therapy and procedures to the patient's clinical state. Ability to critical thinking skills to assess a situation and be able to adapt to changes. A preference for the use of processes and techniques is necessary to follow policies and procedures and to ensure standards of care. Ability to adapt and prioritize during emergency situations. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
