Job Description

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a part-time Surgical Scrub Technician, where your expertise will be vital in supporting our board certified plastic surgeon. You'll be assisting the surgeon during breast and body cosmetic procedures. In this energetic role, you will prepare the operating room, ensure aseptic techniques are maintained, and assist surgeons with instrumentation and supplies. Your dedication to patient safety and surgical excellence will contribute to positive outcomes and seamless operative experiences. Responsibilities Prepare the operating room by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is ready for surgery.
Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies efficiently and accurately.
Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent infection and uphold infection control standards throughout all surgical activities.
Monitor patient vital signs and assist with patient positioning to ensure safety and comfort during procedures.
Collect and document data related to surgical procedures, including blood loss, instrumentation used, and patient responses.
Support the surgical team with instrument counts, specimen handling, and ensuring all surgical protocols are followed meticulously.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and critical care principles relevant to surgical settings. Requirements Proven experience as a Surgical Scrub Technician or in a similar OR support role within hospital or ambulatory surgery center environments.
Strong understanding of aseptic techniques, infection control practices, and sterile processing procedures.
Hands-on experience with suturing, instrument handling, and assisting in various surgical specialties (Memorial or St. Johns).
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR systems for accurate documentation of patient records.
Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and acute care procedures.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Ability to analyze clinical situations quickly and adapt to high-pressure environments efficiently.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced hospital settings.
