1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) for a hospital OR position focusing primarily on orthopedic surgeries at a Level 1 Trauma facility in Urbana, IL. Details Hospital OR setting with a primary focus on orthopedic surgical cases Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM-5:00 PM, 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week On-call requirement of 6-8 shifts per month, including both weekends and weekdays Holiday coverage required via on-call shifts 40 hours per week Epic EMR used; experience required Client credentialing required for this position Requirements Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology required CST certification through NBSTSA required CSA certification through NCCSA required BLS certification from the AHA required Level 1 Trauma experience required Epic EMR experience required Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible License required if applicable Additional Information Functions as the primary surgical assistant to the surgeon and may serve as first or second scrub tech or second circulator under RN supervision Assists with patient positioning, draping, and preparation of supplies and equipment for procedures Performs closure of all layers of skin and is knowledgeable in a variety of closure techniques Provides surgical assistance including suctioning, tying, camera holding, and retracting during procedures Performs scrubbing duties, including participation in educational cases for medical students, residents, and other learners Applies principles of asepsis to maintain a sterile environment throughout procedures Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure correct trays, instrumentation, and supplies are prepared for each case Assists with room turnover, supply ordering, inventory control, and supply chain management Candidates who have previously worked at this health system may not return after being on assignment for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service RTO is not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
