Job Description

Orthopaedic Associates is seeking a Student Surgical Tech to join our team working in a high volume, orthopaedic only, surgery center. The ideal candidate will be a current student in good standing enrolled in a state approved Surgical Technologist program and eligable for certification exam within 6 months of hire. Orthopaedic skills are also a plus but not required. This is an outpatient-only facility, with hours worked Monday - Friday. This is a full-time position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, the Student Surgical Tech must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily under the supervision of the CST. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Assist the surgical team by maintaining a sterile operating room Set up the operating room for surgical procedures Monitor and control the environment, adhering to Universal Precautions Prepare patients for surgery, including washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites, transporting patients, positioning patients on the table, and covering patients with sterile surgical drapes Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing appropriate instruments, providing sterile items, holding retractors, and cutting Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with company policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Current student in good standing enrolled in a state approved Surgical Technologist program and eligible for certification exam within 6 months of hire. Knowledge of surgical instruments and operating procedures Strong attention to detail Must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to multitask Excellent communication skills Factors determining actual salary may include skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. The typical candidate is hired below the midpoint.
