Baton Rouge, LA Job Details PRN 14 hours ago Qualifications Certified Surgical Technologist Full Job Description The Surgical Technologist will play a crucial role in assisting with surgical operations by preparing operating rooms, setting up sterile fields, and providing support to surgeons and nursing staff throughout procedures. Role and Responsibilities Set up, sterilize, and maintain all necessary surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment before, during, and after surgeries. Assist surgeons and nurses by providing instruments, sponges, and other necessary items during surgeries, ensuring everything is in place for a smooth procedure. Maintain the sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, adhering to infection control standards and practices to ensure patient safety. Assist with patient positioning, applying sterile drapes, and preparing the surgical site according to the surgeon's specifications. Check all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for proper functioning and availability. Ensure all supplies are accounted for before, during, and after procedures. Document the use of supplies, instruments, and any relevant observations during surgeries, ensuring proper surgical records are maintained. After each procedure, assist in the clean-up of the operating room, ensuring all instruments are properly sterilized and the room is prepared for the next surgery. Work closely with surgeons, surgical nurses, and other medical staff to ensure the surgical procedure is carried out safely and efficiently. Ensuring accurate counts of sponges, sharps, and other supplies to prevent retained foreign objects. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent experience. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) Preferred Education or Experience Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital or surgical setting is highly desirable.
