Job Description
Prepares Operating Room, Labor and Delivery Suites, and tables with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment necessary for each individual surgical and delivery procedure. Assists in preparation and draping of patient. Passes instruments, sutures, sponges, supplies, and equipment needed for the operative and delivery procedures. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed and maintains correct count. Performs appropriate counts with labor nurse prior to and after vaginal deliveries and maintains correct count. Properly cares for specimens. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization by initiating cleaning at point of use. Cleans, stocks, inventories and restocks supplies and medications as required. Assists with patient positioning. Follows procedures for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, draping, and applying dressing. Demonstrates close attention to details of aseptic technique at all time. Reports breaks in sterile techniques. Cleans and prepares C-section suite between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Assist in transportation of patient under the direction of an RN. Assists in cleaning, maintenance, and function of operating room equipment.
